NEXT STEPS

1 Zero minimums generally apply to Fidelity share classes that previously required investment minimums of $10k or less and for stock and bond index fund classes that previously had minimums of up to $100 million. Some Fidelity mutual funds have minimum investment requirements. Other fees and expenses may apply to continue investment as described in the fund’s current prospectus. See the fund’s prospectus for details.

*As of 8/1/2018, total expenses on the majority of Fidelity’s stock and bond index mutual funds were reduced; now all current share classes offer the same low cost, regardless of investment size. In November, the funds’ structure will be simplified by consolidating current share classes into a single class. For Spartan Index pools, the new $5M minimum for class C is effective immediately on 8/01/2018. Expense ratios are being reduced for the Spartan Small Cap pool effective 8/17/2018. Existing clients will receive a letter informing them of the change and any related contract updates, which will be effective as of 8/17/2018.

Stock markets, especially foreign markets, are volatile and can decline significantly in response to adverse issuer, political, regulatory, market, or economic developments.

In general, the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. (As interest rates rise, bond prices usually fall, and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.) Fixed income securities also carry inflation risk, liquidity risk, call risk, and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties. Unlike individual bonds, most bond funds do not have a maturity date, so holding them until maturity to avoid losses caused by price volatility is not possible. Any fixed income security sold or redeemed prior to maturity may be subject to loss.

The Spartan Index Pools are separate pools in the Spartan Group Trust for Employee Benefit Plans, and is managed by Geode Capital Management Trust Company, LLC, a New Hampshire trust company. It is not a mutual fund. Units of the Spartan 500 Index Commingled Pool are exempt from registration under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Investment Company Act of 1940.
