COMMUNITY OVERVIEW
Latino employees who are enrolled in workplace retirement plans exhibit the highest levels of financial confidence compared to peers1
While participation in workplace retirement plans remains low for historically underserved communities, Fidelity research finds that Latinos who do make contributions exhibit the highest levels of financial confidence when compared with their peers. Additionally, more than 64% of Latino employees––the highest rate across all demographic groups––say they are motivated to save for the long term, a key driver for financial wellness.
However, these high levels of motivation and financial confidence are not enough to ensure Latinos are prepared for their long-term needs. Many Latino households are largely focused on day-to-day financial priorities, such as:
- Paying down debt
- Building emergency savings
- Saving for health care1
With nearly one-third of Latinos living in multigenerational households2, family finances can add a layer of complexity that can reduce additional contributions to long-term savings.
Through inclusive benefits offerings, employers can play a unique role in partnering with Latino employees to engage more in workplace benefits plans and help achieve future financial success.
