Community Overview
Hispanic Americans are an economic force in a complex financial landscape*
Members of the Hispanic community are rapidly losing faith in public institutions, they’re finding it increasingly difficult to feel part of the communities they value, and they’ve been hit especially hard by the nation’s economic difficulties.*
That being said, US Hispanics are an economic force, with their GDP growth tripling that of the rest of the population since 2015 (51% growth for Hispanics vs. 17% growth for non-Hispanics).* To put their economic power into perspective, US Hispanics’ $4 trillion would rank as the fifth largest economy in the world.*
However, these high levels of motivation and financial confidence are not enough to ensure that Hispanics are prepared for their long-term needs. Many Hispanic households are largely focused on day-to-day financial priorities.*
What does this mean for employers?
Compared to their peers, Hispanics are noticing more of a decline in their mental well-being and are more drawn to self-care strategies and self-orientation as a solution.*
For some, the Hispanic work ethic is taking a toll, with many feeling that they are putting too much energy into work and not enough into “things that really matter.”*
Many report that they would like more opportunities to work on their mental health so that they can feel happier in the future.*
